A Rotarian belongs to a world wide organization celebrating over 102 years of service.

Rotary, is a service organization of business and professional leaders, united world-wide, who:

  • conduct humanitarian projects,
  • encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and
  • work toward world understanding and peace.
Rotary works closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) to eliminate polio from the world and has already committed $650 million to this cause.

Rotary is more than 1.2 million service-minded men and women belong to clubs in more than 200 countries and regions.  Membership is by invitation.

Rotary is compassion for the underprivileged, the ill and the disabled, many of whom are beneficiaries of over 50,000 service projects conducted by Rotary Clubs throughtout the world.

Rotary adds fulfillment each year to the lives of more than 9,000 young people of secondary school age as they live and study in countries other than their own.  In addition, more than 800 ambassadorial scholars attend universities thoughout the world to further Rotary's goal of "Peace Through World Understand".  Rotary World Peace Fellowships are awarded to individuals for study in Master's Degree Programs at the Rotary Centres fro international Studies in peace and conflict resolution.

The Rotary Foundation contributed more than US$119 million (in 2005-2006) the latest figures available) to its various educational and humanitarian programs to promote international understanding.
